Position: Custodian Part-Time (First Shift)

Location: District Wide

Reports To: Operations Supervisor

Schedule: Minimum - 28.75 Hours per week      M-F  6 am  to 11:45am

Schedule varies based on location / assignment

Hourly Wage:  Step One - $17.83

 

 

Position Summary

Provides custodial services at assigned site(s); ensuring an attractive, sanitary and safe environment for students, staff and visitors; performing a variety of special cleaning operations; and assisting in preparing facilities for classroom activities and building events. 

This is a roving position within our secondary school buildings.  May at times cover elementary level positions.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Clean, dust, and wipe furniture; sweep, mop, or vacuum floors; empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers; replace light bulbs; refill restroom dispensers, wash windows 
• Clean and sanitize restrooms/bathrooms using established practices and procedures
• Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies. Use as directed 
• May help to set up facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc. 
• May strip, clean, buff and apply floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors, vacuum and shampoo carpets
• May help with landscaping and snow removal as necessary
• Help with security of the building during shifts

 

Employment Qualifications

• High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) 
• Training provided. Previous experience working in a sanitation, custodial, or maintenance position preferred, but not required
• Supervisory Responsibilities:  None 

 

Physical Demands

• Ability to stand for extended periods of time
• Ability to bend, twist, stoop, reach and kneel
• Ability to work at heights, ascend and descend ladders
• Ability  to communicate  so  others  will  be able  to clearly understand  normal conversation
• Ability to hear and understand speech
• Ability to lift, push, pull and carry up to 75 pounds
